Learn more about our vision of sustainability.
Not only does renewable energy protect our environment, but it makes more economic sense than ever. Changes in cost through innovation and technology have made generating renewable energy in our regions a cost-effective and reliable way to help produce the power we need and to control our energy future. In addition, wind farms, solar arrays, hydroelectric facilities, and renewable natural gas bring jobs and tax revenue to the communities we serve.
Heavenly Mountain Resort's Energy-Efficient Snow-Making Equipment
Liberty's commercial incentive program provides rebates for the purchase of energy-efficient snow-making equipment at a Tahoe ski resort. The equipment makes snow using 85% less energy than the old equipment they had. Aiding the resort in reaching its goal to have zero carbon footprint.
Eastern Plumas Healthcare Upgrades to Energy-Efficient Lighting
Liberty helped EPHC upgrade the lighting in their facilities to LEDs. Liberty's commercial incentive program provided rebates to a rural hospital to install and lighting purchase costs.
Wind Turbine Project
Improved technology allows Liberty to be more local and sustainable with this wind turbine project in Missouri. We are delivering a cleaner environment with these sustainable sources of energy for our customers. Economic models for this project show over $169 million in savings for customers over approximately 20 years.
Prosperity Solar Facility
Construction of this 11-acre solar farm of 5700 panels began in September 2020 and was in service by March 2021. Customers subscribe for up to half of their monthly usage. While this facility is currently full, customers can sign up for future expansion and the plan is to expand to sustainable energy for all customers to allow direct access to community solar farms.
Sagehen Micro Grid
Sagehen Creek Field Station is a research and education facility managed by the University of California Berkley. The micro grid is a cost-effective, sustainable solution that provides resiliency to the customer. It also can be completely de-energized during the wildfire season in the summer months.
